911 operators
Duties and responsibilities: 911 emergency dispatchers often are the first people contacted when
emergency assistance is needed. They might work at call centers, police
stations, fire stations or hospitals.
Salary: $55,070
Education: dispatchers work in a high-energy environment and must be
able to make quick decisions while communicating with callers who are in an
emergency. A high school education is usually required to become a 911
operator, and on-the-job training varies by employer
Reflection: I would like to be a 911
operator, but I don’t like the pay because they earn a little.
